Gardaí are investigating a shooting incident in a Kildare village on Wednesday night.
Up to five shots were fired at a house in a residential estate in Kilmead, Co Kildare, at about 7.30pm.
Gardaí believe the shots were fired from a car. No one was injured in the incident although there were people in the house at the time, including a child.
“Kilmead has never experienced anything like this before,” said local Fianna Fáil councillor Martin Miley.

“It has caused major distress to the tight-knit community and my thoughts are with the family.”
It is understood that the incident was not related to organised crime.
