Gardai investigate `suspicious' death

Gardai are treating as suspicious the death of a man whose body was discovered yesterday on a Co Tipperary farm.

Gardai are treating as suspicious the death of a man whose body was discovered yesterday on a Co Tipperary farm.

The man was named as Mr Edmund Ryan (44), of Cormackstown, Thurles. Mr Ryan, who lived alone, was separated from his wife and had grown-up children.

His body was found lying face down on the lawn in front of his two-storey house. Initial reports indicated that he suffered severe head injuries.

The discovery was made at lunchtime yesterday. Gardai erected a tent and preserved the scene.

A pathologist was alerted and examined the body last night.

Investigating gardai were last night awaiting the result of the post-mortem examination.
