Cait Bergin (79) of Ballacolla, Co Laois, died when she was hit by a truck in Abbeyleix on Friday afternoon.

Elsewhere, two men in their 20s died after crashes in Dublin and Limerick.

Daniel Kenny (20) of Riverchapel, Gorey, Co Wexford, died in Dalkey when the car in which he was a passenger hit a wall at around 3.30am on Saturday.

The driver of the car was admitted to St Vincents Hospital where he was being treated for his injuries.

In Castlemahon, Co Limerick, Brian Carroll (26) from Ballyagran was killed when the car he was travelling in hit another vehicle.
