Gardaí in Cork have released a lorry-driver who was being questioned in connection with a road accident in which a 12-year-old boy was killed on Sunday.

Billy Kelleher, Ballinahina, Fermoy, was killed in the collision at Corrin, on the Cork to Dublin road. Two cars and a lorry were involved in the incident, which happened at 4.40 p.m. A file is being sent to the DPP.

Meanwhile, gardaí have released the name of the pedestrian killed in a road collision in Navan, Co Meath, on Sunday. He was Mr John Kinch (54), Walkinstown Drive, Dublin 12.

A 25-year-old man appeared before Navan District Court on Sunday on charges relating to the incident. Gardaí are seeking witnesses to the collision.

In Kilkenny, the 80-year-old man killed when he was pinned under his tractor on Saturday has been named as Mr Patrick Hoban, Rathclogh, Danesfort.

He was discovered by his daughter just before 6 p.m. on a site beside his home and was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr Hoban is survived by his wife and 10 children.

The young man who was killed when he was struck by a train in Galway has also been named.

Mr Finbarr Barry Walsh (22), Bodyke, Co Clare, had been visiting friends in Galway city when he was struck by the Dublin to Galway train at Murrough last Wednesday.
