Gardaí have again appealed for help from the public in the case of a man whose headless, dismembered remains were found in the Royal Canal, Dublin, almost a week ago.
A Garda spokeswoman said yesterday that gardaí were still trying to identify the victim, a young black man who was more than 6ft tall.
Gardaí have particularly sought help from landlords, and have asked them to check their rented accommodation for any tenants who may be unaccounted for.
They have also appealed to non-nationals who may have information in relation to people missing from their communities to contact them.
Fingerprint records at the National Immigration Bureau are being examined to see if any match can be established with the body.
The Garda spokeswoman said she could not say if any links had been firmly established between the man's death and the death of a young Malawian woman in Kilkenny last summer.
Paiche Onyemaechi's (24) headless body was found at the River Pil in Piltown.
Her estranged husband, Chika Onyemaechi, has been missing since then, and there was weekend speculation that this could be his body.
The remains were found in two areas in the canal at Ballybough last Wednesday night.
A Garda water unit has continued searching the canal in recent days in the hope of finding more remains or evidence.

Gardaí said a white-coloured Ireland away soccer jersey was found with the body, as well as a pair of Primark underpants and grey/green socks.
Gardaí believe the man was killed at another location, perhaps as long as a month ago.
