Gardaí have today renewed an appeal to the public for help in relation to the shooting of a man in Tallaght yesterday morning.

The man (27), originally from Castlelawns in Tallaght, suffered a single gunshot wound to the head at an apartment in Russell Rise, off Fortunestown Way, just after 6.30am. He remains in a critical condition in Tallaght hospital.

Gardaí are particularly appealing for any sightings of an unregistered White Honda Integra ‘R’ type car stolen from a garage on the Naas Road yesterday morning. The car was later found at Mountpellier View, Tallaght, at 7.30am yesterday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Incident room at Tallaght Garda Station 01-6666 000 or the Garda Confidential Number 1-800-666-111.

The man was staying in the apartment with his girlfriend and two children when the shooting happened. He was shot after looking out the window of the third-floor apartment when the doorbell rang.

Forensic teams examined the building and surrounding area yesterday, and door-to-door inquiries were carried out by officers in the locality.

Supt Eamon Dolan had appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

“People may have seen something going to work or coming from work at that time of the morning,” he said. “They may have seen something of a suspicious nature, like people running in the area or maybe a vehicle driving away quickly or being abandoned locally.”
