The man gardai want to question about the rape of the 13-year-old Dublin girl who is now 12 weeks pregnant is believed to be from Dundalk, Co Louth. The 24-year-old man has not been seen in the Border town since the attack.

The man has relations in Dublin and his family are known to the family of the victim. He is not known to the gardai as a sex offender.

A spokesperson for the gardai in Dundalk confirmed that they wish to talk to the man, but added that he had not been charged in connection with the offence. The man has also been known to live in Blanchardstown, Co Dublin, and near Belfast.

It is understood that when the girl's family approached the man's family in Dundalk about the rape, they were told by his family not to go near the gardai. The girl's family made a complaint to gardai in Ronanstown, west Dublin, and have since received threats from the man's family. "He is on the run and is actively on the wanted list," a Garda source confirmed.
