Gardaí are hunting a gang of men who robbed a bank in Oldcastle, Co Meath yesterday evening.

Three raiders wearing navy blue boiler suits and carrying iron bars broke into the rear of the Bank of Ireland at about 5pm and escaped with an undisclosed sum of money.

They fled through the rear car park of the Napper Arms Hotel and into the Ard Friel housing estate where car was waiting.

A Garda spokesman said this car, described as a dark-coloured saloon, is believed to have driven off in the direction of Castlepollard.

Gardaí said they believe the gang may have been scouting the area in the days before the robbery and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
