Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information about an assault and attempted robbery on a French student (21) in Killiney last week to come forward.
The student was standing on Seafield Road not far from the convent when her attacker, who crossed the road from the Killiney beach side, punched her in the head and knocked her to the ground in his failed attempt to steal her handbag.
Prior to the assault her attacker was standing on the Killiney Beach side of Seafield Road talking on a mobile phone.
After the attack he ran down a laneway towards Killiney beach.
He is described as being 22 to 25 years old; of five foot, ten inches in height; and having short, fair hair. He was wearing blue denim jeans, runners and a black round-neck T-shirt.
The victim was five foot, five inches in height, with blond hair and wearing a white track-suit bottoms and blue denim jacket. She was carrying a red leather bag.
Anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who may have been driving or walking in the area or on the beach at the time is asked to contact the Gardai in Shankill on 01-6665911
