Gardaí seized cannabis resin worth €1 million during an operation in Co Meath last night.

Gardaí seized cannabis resin worth €1 million during an operation in Co Meath last night.

The 100 kilogrammes of the drug were found in a 4X4 vehicle that was stopped and searched in the Rathoath area by officers from Dublin's Store Street station.

A Garda spokesman said the drugs were worth €1 million.

A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene of last night's operation. He is being held at Blanchardstown Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice ( Drug Trafficking ) Act, 1996.

The search was carried out as part of Operation Anvil, which was set up earlier this year to target the surge in gang-related crime in Dublin.

Meanwhile, gardaí from Donnybrook and Pearse Street stations, as well as members of the Garda National Drug Unit seized cocaine with an estimated street value of €400,000 last night.

The drugs were found in a house in East Wall at approximaltey 10pm.

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s have been arrested and are being detained at Donnybrook Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice ( Drug Trafficking ) Act, 1996.
