The Garda has mounted a new operation aimed at preventing security van robberies.
Figures show there have been at least 27 cash-in-transit robberies this year. The latest was yesterday at Leopardstown Racecourse.
The operation, based in Blanchardstown, will be manned by armed detectives from the National Bureau of Investigation, the Special Detective unit and gardaí from a number of Dublin stations.
The operation will target suspects as well as monitor the movement of cash in transit.
