A seriously disturbed boy, ordered by the High Court to be placed in a special care unit in Scotland, is to be accompanied there by gardai. Mr Justice Finnegan was told yesterday by the Southern Health Board that social workers feared they would be unable to handle him if he got out of control on the journey.

At a special sitting of the High Court yesterday Mr Justice Finnegan ordered that the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and his escort of social workers be accompanied by a garda.

On July 31st Mr Justice Kelly ordered that the boy be transferred to the special care unit in Scotland after hearing that health board staff were unable to handle him here.
