Gardai, Civil Defence volunteers and local residents will resume an extensive search today along the banks of the Silver and Brosna rivers in Co Offaly for Mr Declan Mooney (32), of Kilcormac in Offaly, who has been missing since December 8th.
Mr Mooney is one of two men for whom gardai have renewed appeals for help in tracing their whereabouts.
They are also seeking assistance in tracing Mr Trevor Deely (22), originally from Naas, Co Kildare, and living in Serpentine Avenue, in Dublin, who was also last seen on December 8th.
Mr Mooney, from St Cormac's Park, in Kilcormac, was last seen at about 2 a.m. on December 8th. He is described as five feet 10 inches in height, of thin build with short brown hair and sallow complexion. When last seen he was wearing blue denim trousers, a navy shirt, navy fleece jacket and black shoes.
An area of about 25 miles is expected to be covered in the search for Mr Mooney, who may be suffering from depression. Four sightings of him have been reported, but anybody with further information is asked to contact Birr Garda station at (0509) 20016.
Mr Deely was last seen in the Baggot Street Bridge area of Dublin on December 8th between 3.30 a.m. and 4.30 a.m.
He is six feet tall, of slim build with short red hair, and blue eyes. He was wearing a yellow and brown diamond check shirt and beige cord pants and was carrying a navy umbrella with the logo of the ACC bank.
Gardai at Harcourt Terrace in Dublin are appealing for anybody who may have been in the Baggot Street area at that time to contact them at (01) 666 9500 or any Garda station.
