Last week's arrangements for the U2 concert at Slane will be replicated this weekend, with some fine-tuning of public transport arrangements.

This includes the possibility that the Ireland-Holland international will be specially screened for soccer fans before the main concert begins. Gardai are again urging concert-goers to avail of public transport. People taking cars are warned to use the official carparks. Those parking illegally risk having their vehicles towed away. Dublin Bus is providing additional buses in anticipation of greater demand from Dublin-based U2 fans.

Arrangements have been improved for ensuring people have easier access to buses for the return journey, a spokesman said.

Buses will again operate from Upper O'Connell Street, departing every 20 minutes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

About 800 gardai will be on duty, with about 100 patrolling the Boyne. They will be particularly vigilant for signs of drugtaking.

A spokesman said: "Judges will be on standby, and special courts will again be in place to deal with people who are arrested." They will also be on the lookout for forged tickets.

The village will be sealed off to all vehicles except those of local residents from 8 p.m. this evening until 3 a.m. on Sunday.

As with the first Slane concert diversions will be in place on the N2 for traffic travelling north and south. The diversions will also be in operation at Ardee and Kilmoon Cross.

Traffic to Dublin from Louth, Monaghan and Northern Ireland should divert at the roundabout north of Ardee. Signs will indicate the route to the M1.

Once again, traffic to the North will divert at Kilmoon Cross on the N2 north of Ashbourne and travel through Duleek and Drogheda.

Motorists will take the N1 as far north as the intersection with the M1.

Gardai warn concert-goers not to trespass on grounds or lands adjacent to the Boyne and to co-operate with stewards.
