Gardaí have warned the public to be vigilant for stolen bank drafts after two were presented to people selling their cars through newspaper adverts.

A Garda statement said two bank drafts stolen in a robbery at Ulster Bank in Cloghran, Co Dublin, on July 19th had been presented as "payment" in the separate car transactions in Navan, Co Meath, and in Saggart, Co Dublin.

Cash and a quantity of blank bank drafts were stolen in the July robbery.

There were sterling and euro-sterling drafts marked Natwest bank, London; German euro drafts marked Commerzbank, Frankfurt; US dollar drafts from Bank of New York; and Canadian dollars drawn on the Bank of Montreal.
