Convicted paedophile Gary Glitter was released today from prison in Vietnam, where he was serving a three-year sentence for child sex offences.

The former glam rock musician, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was to be driven from Thu Duc to Ho Chi Minh City Airport, and is expected to arrive in London tomorrow morning.

Glitter, 64, was jailed in March 2006 after he was convicted of molesting two girls aged 10 and 11. His sentence was later reduced for good behaviour.

His lawyer Mr Le Thanh Kinh said Glitter told him he wanted to return to the UK, had a ticket to London and was eagerly anticipating his release.
