Gaelic Games:Jim Gavin has named his four selectors as he starts to put shape on his backroom team after taking over the Dublin football job from Pat Gilroy.
Gavin’s former Dublin team-mate Mick Deegan (Erin’s Isle) will be joined by Declan Darcy (Clanna Gael Fontenoy), Michael Kennedy (DCU) and Shane O’Hanlon (St Vincent’s).
Gavin and Deegan were part of the Dublin squad that won the All-Ireland in 1995 and is presently the manager of Fingal Ravens. He previously coached Erin’s Isle and managed Dublin juniors to the All-Ireland title in 2008.
Darcy played with his native Dublin and with Leitrim at senior level. He trained the Dublin under-21 squad to their first All-Ireland title in 2003, and has been a selector at that level in recent years, including the All-Ireland success in 2010.
O’Hanlon has been a Dublin under-21 football selector for the past five years under Gavin as they won three Leinster and two All-Ireland titles, while Kennedy has been involved in the backroom team of previous Dublin managements, including during Gilroy’s tenure.
