Athletics: Tyson Gay took his third gold of the World Athletics Championships in Osaka as the American quartet of sprinters, despite a couple of shaky baton changeovers, denied Jamaica to win the men's 4x100m in 37.78seconds.
Gay, who won the 100m and 200m titles earlier in the championship, ran a blistering third leg for the pre-race favourites to set up victory for the USA and as Asafa Powell ran down Britain's Mark Lewis-Francis in impressive fashion to take silver for Jamaica and set a national record (37.89).
USA dropped the baton two years ago in their qualifier in Helsinki, when Justin Gatlin was denied a third gold after claiming the two sprint titles.
