The chance to make a last minute decision to run for the General Election ended at midday - the deadline for nominations by candidates seeking to stand in the poll.
But the opportunity to rethink any snap decisions to take a stab at being a politician will not run out until tomorrow at midday - the deadline for candidates to withdraw their names.
Over 400 candidates are expected to contest in the Election on May 17th. According to latest figures Fianna Fáil will have 106 candidates in the field, Fine Gael 85, Labour 46, the Progressive Democrats 17, Sinn Fein 34 and the Greens 30.
There will also be more than 100 independents.
