Rome - A judge yesterday found two Argentine generals guilty of kidnapping and murdering Italians during Argentina's 1976-83 military dictatorship and sentenced them in absentia to life imprisonment. Five other Argentine military officers were each sentenced to 24 years in jail.
Gen Guillermo Suarez Mason, Gen Santiago Omar Riveros and five other military officers were charged with the kidnap and murder of eight Italians during the Argentine military's seven-year crackdown on suspected leftists.
