The German Foreign Ministry in Berlin was evacuated today after a bomb threat following the massive attacks on the United States yesterday.

Interior Minister Mr Otto Schily confirmed the evacuation at a news conference, but said he was not overly concerned. "It should not be confused with real danger", he said.

The Foreign Ministry is housed in the former Reichsbank building in Berlin, where the Nazi regime stored gold and valuables stolen from Jews.

Earlier today, the Messeturm skyscraper in Frankfurt was also evacuated after a bomb threat, but security personnel later gave the all clear.
