Inflation in Germany appears to have slowed again in November, as food and oil prices continue to fall, data for a number of key German regional states showed today.
The regional data could mean pan-German inflation falls back below 2 per cent, which the European Central Bank views as the maximum level of inflation.
Consumer price data for the state of Bavaria showed inflation in the region stood at 1.6 per cent on a 12-month basis in November, slower than the 2.0 per cent recorded in October.
A similar slowdown was seen in three other states.
In the central state of Hesse, inflation slowed to 1.4 per cent on a 12-month basis in November from 1.7 per cent in October. It was the slowest 12-month inflation figure for two years.
In the southwestern state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, consumer price index (CPI) was only 2.0 per cent higher than it had been in November 2000 - the slowest annual rate of change since August 2000.
In the eastern state of Saxony, CPI rose by just 1.7 per cent year-on-year.
