Job creation at German industrial firms accelerated in March to post the strongest growth in six years, the Federal Statistics Office said today.
Around 63,000 more people were employed in manufacturing in March than in the same month a year earlier, an increase of 1.2 per cent, the office said.
The number of employees at metal working firms rose 5.4 per cent, it added. However, auto makers cut jobs, with the workforce declining 1.8 per cent.
A five-year decline in job creation in manufacturing was halted in November 2006 as the German economy picked up.
