German police have searched an apartment in Hamburg where two men suspected of involvement in the attacks on the United States may have lived, according to a newspaper report.
A leading German intelligence officer told

newspaper that Hamburg was home to Islamic extremists generating cash for Mr Osama bin Laden, the exiled Saudi dissident who many intelligence agencies believe masterminded Tuesday's attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

One of the men who had lived in the apartment was believed to be on the passenger roster in an aircraft involved in the terror attacks.
Another man linked to the attacks may also have lived at the apartment, police said. Both suspects had lived in Florida from July 2000 until January this year.
