Germany plans to put an emphasis on the development of oil prices at next week's summit of Group of Eight leaders in Scotland, a government spokesman said today.
In a statement, government spokesman Thomas Steg said that aside from Africa and other issues currently affecting the worldwide economy, Germany saw the high price of oil as a major topic for the meeting.
“It is the German government's view that...especially the development of oil prices needs to be discussed,” Steg said.
Economy Minister Wolfgang Clement last week reiterated Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder would raise the issue of oil prices at the July 6-8 G8 summit in Gleneagles.
