Liverpool stars Danny Murphy and Steven Gerrard will declare themselves fit for the start of pre-season training on July 10th.
The England midfielders were forced to watch their international team-mates from back home as they went all the way to the quarter-finals of the World Cup after suffering foot and groin injuries respectively before the tournament.
But the pair have been undergoing rehabilitation training at Melwood during the summer and are ready to hand the club a massive pre-season boost.
"The crutches are finished with and I've started walking properly again this week," revealed Murphy. "Now I'm starting to do some fitness work. I hope to be starting pre-season with the others on July 10.
"The worst-case scenario would be to wait another week but I don't think that will be necessary. The good thing, from a Liverpool point of view, is the knock won't set me back too much.
"Stevie is flying. He's running already now. Like me, he will be fine for the start of pre-season."
Murphy also delivered some encouraging news regarding Jamie Carragher who is currently recovering from knee surgery.
"Jamie Carragher seems to be progressing nicely as well," he said. "So with a bit of luck the gaffer will have his strongest squad to choose from at the start of the new season."
