David Gillick has been named as a late addition to the Ireland squad due to compete at the upcoming World Indoor Championships in Moscow.

The reigning European Indoor 400metres champion has been entered to race but still has to confirm his participation. Another European Indoor winner, Alistair Cragg, has been included in the squad.

Ireland’s star performer on the track this season, Derval O’Rourke, is also named among the squad of nine athletes. O’Rourke smashed her own national 60metre hurdle record at the National Indoor Championships at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast earlier this month. The Cork athlete cruised to convincing victory in 7.90 seconds in Belfast and lies sixth in the current World Performance list.

James Nolan and David McCarthy have both demonstrated a sufficent return to form of late to take their place in squad. Nolan acheived qualifying times in both the 1500m and 3000m, while McCarthy appears to have turned the corner after a year of injury problems.
