A nine-year-old girl has been killed on the road in Co Wicklow.
The girl was knocked down on the N81 on the Baltinglass side of the village of Blessington.
She died in Naas General Hospital after being hit by a car at about 5.40pm. Gardaí in Blessington have appealed for witnesses.
Meanwhile. two other people were killed in separate road collisions in Cork overnight.
A 37-year-old woman died after being struck by a car while walking this morning. The incident happened at 2.30am at Carrshill near Douglas.
The road is closed pending a forensic examination and diversions are in place.
In a separate incident, a 22-year-old woman died following a two-car collision shortly after 8pm on the N72, at Gearanskagh, Mallow. The woman was travelling alone.
The occupants of the second car, a 51-year-old woman and three children, were taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known.
The road remains closed pending a technical examination and diversions are in place.
