I hear that the girls of some parts of Co Longford have started to play handball, of all games; they call it good slimming exercise! What does the Camogie Association say?

It is about time, by the way, that the young men of this country started a handball revival. The alley game is "100 per cent Gaelic," and traditionally more Irish even than hurling. Now that girls are getting fond of it, it might be possible to run mixed doubles competitions the same as in tennis.

Soldiers and guards at the moment make up the majority of handball's male fans, due mostly to the fact that there are handball courts in all the barracks all over the country.

Incidentally, handball, and that other old Irish pastime of roadbowling, have been more or less neglected by the G.A.A. Yet they deserve the organisation's full support as much as hurling, and much more than the so-called Gaelic football (which is really only a modern invention based on a mixture of rugby, soccer and what have you).
