Men's Hockey: Ireland kept alive their Olympics hopes with an 8-0 demolition of the USA at the qualifying tournament in Auckland.

Mark Gleghorne scored five goals to take his overall tally to nine, making him top scorer for the tournament after four matches. Other players to find the net were Andy Barbour, John Jermyn and Eugene Magee.

Ireland face Argentina in their final pool match on Friday when a victory would put them into the play-off for the one place on offer in Beijing.

Speaking after the game, Ireland coach Dave Passmore was delighted by the "big performance" his players delivered.

"We can take real confidence into the final group game," he added. "I am confident we can win by the margins needed."
