Wicklow 3-13 Carlow 0-12:Three red cards and 14 yellows were brandished at O'Moore Park as Wicklow won by 10 points against Carlow in the opening round of the Leinster championship.
Wicklow manager Mick O’Dwyer saw midfielder Nicky Mernagh sent off in first half injury time, while Carlow lost midfielders Brendan Murphy (straight red) and Thomas Walsh (second yellow) after the break.
O’Dwyer was fiercely critical of the GAA afterwards, accusing the association of ruining the game with persistent rule changes.
On the pitch the game was won thanks to goals from Paul Earls, Leighton Glynn and JP Dalton.
