Another exhibition opened across town the same evening, Punishment of the Innocent by Irish Times photographer, Bryan O'Brien. This was in the Exhibition Studio in Arnotts. The 24 photographs of the conflict in Sierra Leone were taken by O'Brien in February this year when he travelled to the region for 10 days with a team from Concern.
"We're donating the pictures to Concern for them to use in educational purposes," Bryan explained. "So they're not for sale, but if someone really wants one, it could be arranged," said Eithne Healy, press officer for Concern.
Dublin's Lord Mayor, Joe Doyle, came along to open the exhibition. Also there was David Begg, chief executive with Concern and Sally Anne Kinahan, the organisation's marketing director. Eddie Shanahan, the advertising and promotion manager of Arnotts, was there with his marketing colleague Maeve Kenny. Arnotts will be leaving a collection box for Sierra Leone beside the exhibition, so drop your spare change in here on the way to looking at the goodies available in Mango and Kookai.
