GAY WEDDING SHOW: Some 65 vendors are taking part in Dublin's first Gay Wedding Show.
Hotels and photographers from around the country will display products and services to couples planning civil partnerships. Entertainment at the event includes fire breathers, jugglers and Anthony Ward, the pianist who played at the civil partnership ceremony of Alan Hughes and Karl Broderick last year.
The showcase at the Round Room of the Mansion House, Dawson Street, takes place from midday to 5pm tomorrow and entry is free.
GREAT IRELAND RUN
Athletes preparing for July’s London Olympics compete in the 10km race in Dublin’s Phoenix Park tomorrow. Reigning double Olympic champion at 5,000 and 10,000 metres, Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele, will lead off the elite runner field with defending race champion Jesus Espana from Spain.
Coronation Street stars Keith Duffy and John Michie, and broadcasters Matt Cooper and Craig Doyle are taking part. More than 11,000 adults and children are due to take part in the run, which is in its 10th year and includes amateur runners, joggers and walkers. It begins at 1pm. greatirelandrun.org
FILIPINO BEAUTY PAGEANT
Up to 800 members of the Filipino community will attend the Miss Philippines (Ireland) 2012 contest at the RDS, Dublin, today. Guest of honour will be 2011 Rose of Tralee Tara Talbot from Queensland, Australia, who has an Irish mother and a Filipino father.
The 16 finalists will compete for the title and will be selected through a combination of audience vote and judging panel. Doors open at 3pm and the show begins at 5pm. Tickets cost €30 and dress code is formal.
WATERFORD FESTIVAL OF FOOD
The southeast will be alive with foodies this weekend as chefs and cooks descend on Dungarvan.
Cookery demonstrations and restaurant trails will be among the highlights.
Chef Paul Flynn of The Tannery in Dungarvan and Martin Shanahan of Fishy Fishy in Kinsale will take part in one of the cookery demonstrations at the town hall tomorrow. A “crude food trail” is among the more unusual events today in which people will be taught to forage for food in the wilds of Colligan Woods.

INTERNATIONAL PAN CELTIC FESTIVAL
A celebration of all things Celtic takes place in Carlow until tomorrow and will feature up to 2,000 performers. Culture from Celtic lands of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Cornwall and the Isle of Man will be on display in free and ticketed events in the midlands town. Workshops of traditional Celtic dance and music take place today, with an evening of bilingual poetry and music tonight.
Tonight’s main event is a “big gig” at Dinn Rí. Celtic sport is on tomorrow with a “camogie blitz” and a “rugby quadrangle” in Dr Cullen Park.
