In a London hearing marked by heated exchanges between the judge and defence counsel, a former secretary at Goldman Sachs has denied stealing almost £4.4 million pounds from her former banker bosses.

Ms Joyti De-Laurey pleaded not guilty today to 21 charges of unlawfully transferring the money out of the accounts of her former bosses Mr Ron Beller and Mr Scott Mead, and Mr Beller's wife Mrs Jennifer Moses.

Ms De-Laurey, who failed to appear for her last hearing in December after unexpectedly checking herself into an exclusive psychiatric clinic, has retained a new legal team.

Her lawyer Mr Jeremy Dein had a heated exchange with judge Mr Christopher Elwen over whether the previous team had earlier indicated she would plead guilty.

Mr Elwen said he had set bail conditions after receiving an indication De- Dein said it would take some months to prepare Ms De-Laurey's defence arguments.

Her trial, expected to last 10 days, was set for July 14th. De-Laurey was granted conditional bail.
