Keokuk - The Democratic presidential nominee, Mr Al Gore, took aim yesterday at a centrepiece of his Republican rival's campaign, a projected 10-year, $1.3 trillion tax cut.
Mr Gore claimed in a round of morning television interviews that Mr George W. Bush's measure would primarily benefit the rich, consume the record federal surplus and undermine the robust economy.
The Vice-President, who has offered a 10-year, $500 billion tax cut package of his own, hosted an open meeting on taxes yesterday as he completed the final day of a riverboat campaign trip down the Mississippi river, ending in Hannibal, Missouri.
