Eddie Gormley has resigned as manager of Bray Wanderers, who lie bottom of the Airtricity League Premier Division.
The 41-year-old former Bray and St Patrick’s Athletic midfielder was made manager at the Carlisle Grounds in 2006 and brought the side to the semi-finals of the FAI Cup last year.
Bray were relegated at the end of last season, only to be reinstated to the Premier Division following the relegation of Derry City and Cork City because of financial problems.
The Seagulls have struggled all season, winning just two games and are now eight points adrift of Drogheda United. Gormley’s last game in charge was last Friday’s 3-1 home defeat to Sligo Rovers.
A statement on the club’s website read: “Bray Wanderers announced today that Eddie Gormley has decided to resign as manager of the club.
“Bray Wanderers would like to place on record their appreciation of the work and commitment that Eddie Gormley gave to the club, and the club would like to thank Eddie for his efforts both as a player and manager with Bray Wanderers. We would like to wish Eddie well in his future career”.
