The second edition of the Government-sponsored workbook on starting a small business was launched today by the Tanaiste, Ms Harney.

Starting Your Own Business, by Ron Immink and Brian O'Kane provides a step-by-step guide to planning, researching and developing a new business.

The workbook, updated from the original 1997 edition, includes new sections on working from home, e-business and new technology.

Speaking at the launch of the of the book at the Guinness Enterprise Centre, the Tanaiste said small businesses "have been and will continue to be, an integral part of Ireland’s economic success story".

Co-author Brian O’Kane said the book was "a central resource for people starting a new business in Ireland".

The book is augmented by a website that provides information and resources for both people starting a business and those who were looking to develop already established enterprises.
