The Government has dismissed reports that Queen Elizabeth II may be preparing an historic state visit to the Republic.
A spokeswoman told ireland.comthis morning: "There are no such plans in the immediate or foreseeable future".
A number of media reports yesterday and today quoted reliable sources as saying Buckingham Palace was getting ready to give the all-clear for the trip.
It was said any visit would probably have to wait until after next year when the Queen celebrates her golden jubilee.

The Queen, who was visiting Derry yesterday, is the only senior member of the British royal family not to have visited the State.
