THE GOVERNMENT plans to publish 26 new Bills during the Dáil summer session, which began yesterday, Government Chief Whip Pat Carey has announced.
He said that as part of “a comprehensive and ambitious legislative programme” there were another 20 Bills on which the heads had been agreed and texts were currently being drafted.
Another 41 Bills were listed in which the heads have yet to be agreed by the Government.
The Bill to establish the National Asset Management Agency is on the list of those for which the heads have yet to be agreed. There are already 22 Bills before the Dáil at various stages and four before the Seanad.
The major pieces of legislation to be dealt with are the Finance Bill and the Social Welfare Bill.
