They are pioneers, gladiators, fierce warriors. Take a bow final-year students at DIT. First up are Elaine Browne, Faela Dunne and Susan Morrow. Their work, along with all the final-year students at the Dublin Institute of Technology is on view at 12 different venues throughout the city - such as that of Katherine Nolan in Clery's window.

Jim Dorney, general secretary of the Teachers' Union of Ireland, takes time out from a tough year to view his daughter's work at Temple Bar Gallery. Mairead Dorney's work is in visual communication, linking drugs, Little Red Riding Hood and Dublin.

For Ellen Hgazelkorn, director of DIT's Faculty of Applied Arts, it's a proud moment, as she races form one venue to another.

The DIT students who are completing a BA (hons) Photography will be the first batch of photographers to graduate in the Republic. Their work is on show at the National Photographic Archive. "It's a historic event," says Anthony Haughey, director of DIT degree course. All are breathless with excitement.
