George Graham has hinted that he sees the managerial vacancy at West Ham as his route back into football.

And Graham, who was sacked as Tottenham boss in March, has admitted he is desperate to return to the top level as soon as possible.

He said: "People may think that I have nothing left to prove as my record of success speaks for itself but having been sacked by Tottenham with only part of the job done, I want to show that I can still win silverware with the right club."

Recent speculation has put Graham in line for the Upton Park hotseat following Harry Redknapp's departure.

And he added: "I want any club that I manage to have the same vision and desire to win honours at the highest level that I still have.

"West Ham has the nucleus of an exciting and talented squad and has the potential to go on to achieve success if the right decisions are made."

Graham, who has also managed Millwall, Arsenal and Leeds, claimed the FA Cup final had re-ignited his interest in management.

"If anything, watching the Liverpool v Arsenal match just brought it home to me how much I miss the challenges of management." PA
