Meetings with the President and the Taoiseach are scheduled as part of a three-day state visit by the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg that starts today, writes Deaglán de Bréadún, Foreign Affairs Correspondent.
The royal couple will receive a civic reception at Dublin's Mansion House and will visit the Garden of Remembrance, the National Museum, Trinity College, Newgrange, the National Gallery, the Industrial Development Agency, and Stewart's Hospital at Palmerstown, Co Dublin. Grand Duke Henri became Luxembourg's head of state in October 2000. He spent a month in Ireland in 1969, studying English in Tralee, Co Kerry. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa is Cuban-born but grew up in Geneva. They will be accompanied by the Foreign Minister, Mrs Lydie Polfer.
