Applications are being invited by the Department of Social Welfare for grants towards community and voluntary activity. The Minister, Mr De Rossa, said £9 million was available and groups involved should assess their needs and see how the grant schemes could be used.
Included are once off grants for disadvantaged groups or groups in disadvantaged areas; grants for women's and men's groups covering self help and personal development; grants for community development programmes; projects tackling moneylending and indebtedness; and projects to help lone parents return to the workforce.
