A Green TD has claimed that Lucan could become a terrorist target after a US newspaper suggested President Bush would travel to the west Dublin village during his Irish visit in June.
Mr Paul Gogarty said the Government should state whether Mr Bush would be visiting Lucan House, residence of the Italian ambassador, as suggested four days ago by a Chicago Sun Times columnist, Michael Sneed.
Mr Sneed quoted the US ambassador, Mr James Kenny, as saying Mr Bush would probably visit Lucan House because of its architectural links with the White House in Washington.
"If these reports are true, the Government will have to come clean and explain how it is going to ensure that the area - which is in a valley - is fully secured from a terrorist attack," said Mr Gogarty.
