The Green Party is has drafted an extensive motion to be submitted on the first day of Dáil business that condemns what it describes as a "whole series of debacles" by the Government.
The party leader, Mr Trevor Sergeant, said he would be seeking Private Members time to debate the motion and will be calling on the opposition parties to support it when the Dáil resumes next week.
Among the topics mentioned are the "incompetent handling" of the Laffoy Commission and resultant resignation of Justice Laffoy; the series of crises at Accident and Emergency departments; Ireland's poor performance in the OECD league table for secondary level education expenditure and the axing of childcare for VTOS students and the "reneging on election promises" for a focused school-building programme.
The motion also addresses the "chaotic situation" with regard to local authority refuse collection, particularly in Dublin; the "continuously delayed "construction of the Luas and the "non-event that was car-free day" and the war of words between the Minister for Justice and Gardaí and allegations of ill-treatment in Garda custody;
Mr Sergeant also listed the granting of planning permission to the ESB for developments at Moneypoint, the opposition of the Minister for the Environment Mr Cullen to the ban on smoking in the workplace and a number of large fish kills on the Donegal coast as subjects he wished to debate.
