Scotland stand-off Gregor Townsend could be set for a return to Six Nations action in the Calcutta Cup.
The Castres half-back suffered a knee injury just minutes into the opening game of the tournament in Paris and it was feared he would miss the rest of the competition.
But Townsend has made excellent progress and although he rates himself as doubtful for the England game on March 3rd he could find himself in contention for the match at Twickenham.
An SRU spokesman said: "Gregor was examined by a knee surgeon in Toulouse and should he continue to make progress in his rehabilitation he has been told he will be able to resume full training next Monday."
"Townsend himself admits that he is 'doubtful' for consideration for the Calcutta Cup match against England on Saturday 3rd March but is not putting any timetable on his return to action, preferring to concentrate on his recovery."
Meanwhile, Scotland international Kenny Logan has admitted he expects to be sacked as team goalkicker.
But the Wasps man insists he will be ready to answer the call from Scotland coach Ian McGeechan at Twickenham.
"I am certain Duncan Hodge will get the job at Twickenham and I'll support him as strongly as he supported me," said Logan. But if Geech tells me to keep doing it then I will."
