Solicitors acting on behalf of Brian Keegan, whose wife and children died tragically last weekend, have renewed an appeal for the family's privacy and grief to be respected ahead of today's funeral.
Last night Robert Anderson of Anderson and Gallagher solicitors said the family was making a photograph of the deceased Mary Keegan available to The Irish Times in the hope that it would "reduce media speculation and frenzy".
He added: "Brian and the Keegan family are again renewing the request that their privacy and grief be respected at this hour."
Mr Keegan, husband of Mary Keegan and father to Andrew (5) and Glen (9), who died at Killakee Walk over the weekend, was last night being comforted by family and friends on the eve of the funeral.
Gardaí believe Ms Keegan stabbed her two sons to death last Sunday before taking her own life.
Mr Anderson said Mr Keegan's "family are supportive and protective of him and are keen to ensure that the funeral is a family affair".
On Wednesday night a statement made on behalf of Mr Keegan thanked family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues for their support.
Mr Keegan also thanked the Garda Síochána, emergency services and local schools for the caring and sensitive manner in which they dealt with the tragedy.
His one request was to be "left alone and given time to grieve".
The funerals take place this morning in the Church of the Holy Spirit, Ballyroan, Dublin.
Local parish priest Fr Patrick Madden will concelebrate the Mass. Children from the schools attended by Glen and Andrew are expected to form a guard of honour.
