It is the first prosecution to arise from the Garda investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of model and socialite Katy French (24), who died on December 6th, 2007, after being in a coma for a number of days.

At Trim Circuit Court yesterday, Russell Memery (24), from Yellow Clay Manor, Navan, Co Meath, pleaded guilty to conspiring with people not before the court to possess a controlled drug for the purpose of selling or supplying it to another.

He admitted committing the offence between 11pm on December 1st and 3am on December 2nd, 2007, at the Statoil service station, Bracetown, Clonee. The drug was cocaine.

When the case was called yesterday morning, his barrister Caroline Biggs told Judge Donagh McDonagh that Memery was on bail and could be arraigned and she was asking for the case to be adjourned.

After Memery pleaded guilty, Judge McDonagh adjourned the case to the next sitting of the court and remanded him on continuing bail.
