A man who broke into the home of the late journalist, Michael O'Toole, and told him he would be killed as revenge for the Balkans war, has been convicted of assault and trespass at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The jury convicted Damien Rankin (32), of Channel Road, Rush, Co Dublin, of assaulting the former Evening Press and Evening Herald columnist and his wife, Maureen, in their home in Portmarnock. Judge Dominic Lynch remanded Rankin on continuing bail for sentencing in October.
