Gardaí investigating the murder of Limerick business man Roy Collins are reported to have recovered a rifle and gun parts during a search in the city earlier today.

Gardaí are continuing to question two men and a woman over the death of 35-year-old father-of-two who was shot dead last Thursday in the Coin Castle Arcade at Roxboro Shopping Centre.

Two men, who were arrested at a house in the Ballinacurra Weston area of the city shortly after the murder, had their detention extended yesterday following a special sitting of Limerick District Court.

The State successfully applied to have the men, aged 19 and 23, detained for a further two days.

A woman in her 20s is also in custody. She was arrested on the south side of the city on Monday morning.

Yesterday at Limerick District Court Chief Supt John Kerin revealed there had been a “significant development” in the investigation that he claimed would link both men with the murder of Mr Collins.
